Cross River Rail

The Cross River Rail science legacy is vast, and the project is a real-world example of the different applications science plays on the project.

Cross River Rail has put together a huge program for this year’s National Science Week, which kicks off nationally from Saturday 13 August till Sunday 21 August.

A range of free educational activities will be run at the Cross River Rail Experience Centre throughout the week, giving kids the chance to learn about the science behind Queensland’s largest infrastructure project.

You’ll also find a documentary about some of the artefacts found during construction on Cross River Rail, featuring the Niche Environment and Heritage Associate Dr Kevin Rains.

Through the Cross River Rail Looking Glass

To celebrate National Science Week's theme of glass, we joined Niche Environment and Heritage Associate, Dr Kevin Rains as he dives into understanding more about glass found on the Cross River Rail project and the process it goes through once it has been excavated.
