Upper Coomera State College in partnership with Dreamworld, would like to invite you to participate in the 3rdannual Gold Coast Robotics Challenge on Thursday, 22nd of November.
The Gold Coast Robotics Challenge is a day-long competition, hosted at Dreamworld, designed to provide a real-world robotics context for students in years 5 and 6 through the use of EV3 robots.
Each school may register up to three teams of 4 students. There are two challenges (seen and unseen), which are designed to give students experience in developing algorithms to address the challenge problems and an appreciation for Australia’s native heritage.
On the competition day, students will not only work through their robotics challenges, but also participate in a cultural learning experience, involving an appreciation of:
- Dreamtime stories
- native weapons
- bush medicines
- bush tucker
- fire making
- indigenous art
The ‘seen’ challenge will be forwarded to participating schools once your expression of interest has been received.
Professional development is offered to teachers overseeing the preparation of their student teams leading up to the competition day, starting Tuesday 23 October – see Gold Coast Robotics Challenge 2018 – Teacher PD Preparation Sessions or download the event overview below for more information.
Note: Teacher PD Preparation Sessions are free, however there is a registration fee of $140 per team to enter the competition.
